Melo-D ‎– Scion CD Sampler V.8 - Beat Constructors Past Present, And Future (2004)

Ryan inspired me to share some of these classic and pretty rare mixes from Scion (this one in particular from my own stash), if you don't know the history of these mixes, here's a little insight to how they came about.

"The first releases by Scion A/V were the Scion CD Samplers, a series of free unmixed compilations of previously released hip-hop and electronic music.Starting with Volume 7 in 2003 and continuing through 2007, these samplers were mixed by DJs, including Peanut Butter Wolf & Jazzy Jeff, Mr. Scruff, Cosmo Baker,Flosstradamus, and Darko of Spank Rock. Beginning with Scion CD Sampler V.17: Vice Records in 2007, the series began focusing on collaborations with various record labels, including Iheartcomix, Ninja Tune, Daptone, Fool's Gold, Dim Mak Records, and Sound Pellegrino.

Scion A/V officially started promoting their eponymous record label in 2005 with the release of two vinyl records: The Missing 12-inch by Los Angeles’ 65-plus piece Dakah Hip Hop Orchestra featuring the rapper Guru of Gang Starr, and one by Brooklyn hip-hop duo Junk Science. Following the Dakah release, the Scion A/V label continued with a series of collaborative 12-inch vinyl records featuring live bands “covering” songs with hip-hop vocalists." ~ :MusicLover650
